As time passes, this book, which was written with great difficulty at the beginning of the nineteenth century, becomes more relevant than ever. While more and more people bow their knees to the god of intellectualism, we also notice that a great many people join the processions of the established religions. Which god is carried along appears to be unimportant, since many of these formal worshippers hide behind an irresponsible ignorance. The situation in the field of religion has developed in such a way, however, that we can no longer hide behind the mask of ignorance; that was still a somewhat acceptable situation in the dark Middle Ages, but now that God's light of truth shines so brightly and God has determined that the 'times of ignorance' are over, we may no longer delay in taking a clear position.
 Let this book not be an indictment of blind obedience to you, but an aid in a sincere investigation of God's truth.
