Foreword

The narrative of Ellen G. White's early experiences in Christian and public life was first printed in 1860 as a small-format book of 300 pages, entitled "My Christian Experience, Views, and Labors, in Connection with the Rise and Progress of the Third Angel's Message."

This autobiographical account of her life and work up to 1860 was expanded by her and reprinted in 1880 as part of a larger work entitled Life Sketches of James White and Ellen G. White. These two books have long been out of print.

In this book you will find a short, self-written account of her youth, her conversion and her first Christian experiences with the great second Advent movement of 1840-1844. She vividly describes the sorrows and joys of her youthful ministry. She paints the difficulties, struggles and successes that followed her labors. The conversion of a few sincere souls led to the establishment and growth of churches that later united under the name 'congregation of the Seventh-day Adventists'.

She tells of her extensive travels and her work with her husband, Elder James White, and gives a broad outline of the period from their marriage in 1846 to her husband's death in 1881.

In chapter forty-two, CC Crisier, her son WC White, and DE Robinson join her life story, helping to complete the biography.

The closing chapters deal with many interesting incidents connected with her travels and labors, and contain her most inspiring and edifying statements respecting the development of the Christian life and the duty of every follower of Christ to be a true disciple of Him who gave His life for the salvation of the world.

The last pages give an account of her illness and deathbed and the funeral service.

Of ElIen White it can truly be said, "She did what she could." Her life is a source of inspiration to all who are engaged in soul winning work!
